Pinky can't resist the lure of the feather toy...

Pinky is slowly coming out of his shell. He came out to play with the feather toy today, emboldened by Plushy (left) and Kid (behind) who are both quite friendly. He'll take a swat or two then run away, but in a few moments he comes slinking back, unable to resist. (BTW, it is not the easiest thing trying to play with cats with one hand, and snap a shot of them playing with the other). Posted by Picasa

When we adopted Chelsea and Jackson last year after their owner died, they were absolutely terrified of us and spent a couple of weeks hiding under the sofa. When they finally emerged in our presence for the first time, it was because of a "Kitty Tease" toy -- a little piece of fabric on a string, tied to a pole. Even the toughest cats can't resist the lure of a feather or a piece of fabric.

When we first brought home George and Colin, Colin integrated fairly readily. George on the other hand decided life under our fridge was grand for the first two months or so. Fortunately, he managed to warm up to us. I think the catnip helped.

(G & C came from a military family from the first Persian Gulf war and were named after the political figures of the time, by their first family. That family moved to California, abandoning their pets)
