Shameless begging

I have put a tip jar on my blog. It didn't appear last night when I installed it, but I see it is there this morning. I like the Amazon.com program versus PayPal because you can customize your icon (where as the PayPal icon is a bit blunt with it's "Buy Now!") Nonetheless, shameless begging is shameless begging, and the Amazon.com icon is bit larger than I hoped it would be. I may try to move it down a bit so it's not quite so "in your face." (Note: I did move it down below the blogroll. I couldn't stand it right at the top. Also, it comes and goes. Perhaps it is a ghost tip jar?).

I put it on the site with the assumption that people who want to support a particular local project may want to give..not necessarily to beg money from my distant readers.

Yes, I'm not quite sure what's up with that. It's back now. Seems like a possible server issue? I'll see how it goes.

Bravo... I'm glad you've done that. Regarding PayPal, the button is editable, and you can make your own button if you choose. If you ever decide you want to switch to PayPal, give me a shout and I can edit your code for you to make it a bit softer than "Buy Now!" :)

Hey Leigh-Ann. Thanks! I did get a Pay Pal account and didn't see that option, so I may pick your brains on it later. I'l stick with just one for now to see how it goes. I know I hate sites that are plastered all over with "gimme buttons" and I had to force myself to put this one up. :) Thanks for the offer!

I don't know if I'll be able to put a link here, but log in to your PayPal account and then go to this url:

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick-donations-factory

That's the page where you can set your account up to receive donations. On the page you'll see options to customize your button, so you can use the standard, "Make a Donation" button, or link to a button of your own design. Your own button could have an image, text, or anything you wanted to display.

Yep, now it's workin'. Bizarre how it knows my name when I visit your site! Had to look that up to see how they do that...

I found that a bit creepy. :)
