Holy %$&#

(initially this post celebrated the survival of the trapped miners in West Virginia).

Post-note: as morning visitors already know, the miracle news that twelve of the miners had survived was a miscommunication. In fact, only one man has survived and his condition is serious. The link that I had here to a previous story has been removed, since the on-line article it was linked to no longer exists.

I cannot begin to imagine what these families are going through. There are some professions so inherently dangerous that one lives every day with the shadow of death. Yet it is a shadow that is easy for the rest of us to ignore except when a tragedy like this happens.

I went to bed to a miracle and woke up to a tragedy again. These families must be worn out with anguish. I can't imagine.
