Our bear decided to visit last night. Mark will need to buy a new finch feeder. But I think we'll stop feeding the birds for a bit.
Note: if the photo would load entirely, you would see a very impressive shot of the bite marks in the bottom feeder. Oh well. I tried loading a completely different shot of the same thing and had the same problem. Sorry.

For the first time ever, I woke up to signs of bear at my feeder last week, here in Jacksonville. Like yours, my feeder pole was bent down to the ground. I didn't notice teeth marks, but will look more closely. I'm surprised my dogs didn't hear it and make a ruckus. I'd like to see it.
We've had dogs (one at a time) at the cabin in the woods on Raquette Lake when bears wandered by. They usually refuse to go out or make noise. I like to think we have had smart dogs. Of course, nowadays we only feed the hummingbirds up there.
