• Who Can Benefit? government officials, health officers, public administrators, law enforcement officers, animal and citizen advocates, shelter administrators, community leaders , lawyers and law students.
• Who Is Teaching? Linda Niedweske, Esq., Isabelle Strauss, Esq. and rescue liaison, Marie Ansari, all board members of Lawyers In Defense of Animals. (LIDA) www.njlida.org
• What Is Covered? The law's impact on the manner in which animals, citizens, and organizations relate to each other in the context of community life. Using case studies students will be introduced to basic legal concepts and explore recurring issues of community animal law, for example: feral (free roaming) cat colonies, "pet" limit laws, hoarding, breed specific legislation and companion animals in housing. Learn practical knowledge to address conflicts which arise when the boundaries of animals' interests and those of community and government impinge on each other.
